At Fosse Primary School, we aim to provide an exciting maths curriculum that engages all children by using a variety of teaching and learning styles in our lessons. Our principal aim is to develop children’s fluency, reasoning and problem solving and overall achieving mastery in maths.

Mastering maths means pupils acquiring a deep, long-term, secure and adaptable understanding of the subject. Here at Fosse we are using the White Rose Scheme of Learning.  This scheme provides each unit and learning is broken down into small steps for each unit. This allows children to develop a deep understanding of each small step leading to mastery for each area of learning.

To be able to do this we incorporate the Concrete, Pictorial and Abstract (CPA) approach in our lessons. We make sure that children have the opportunity to use a wide range of resources throughout the learning such as:

Every Friday our children enjoy Flashback Friday! This is where we review our previous learning. This allows us to recall recently learned information enabling us to remember more and become masters in mathematics!
